State Track Meet Luncheon

My oldest daughter thought going to State for basketball was so much fun that she wanted to go back in track. She succeeded, so a special lunch was planned at school to celebrate the athletes that made it into the State track meet. 

I signed up for dessert and table decorations, so I came up with an ice cream sundae bar for the dessert and Pixy Stix centerpieces! I added some fun inspirational sayings to the ice cream toppings and made the sign. The centerpieces were dollar store cups, Pixy Stix, and vinyl applied to the cups. 

The kids seemed to enjoy their special lunch. Go Eagles!!

Blue's Clues Birthday Party - The Treats!

To wrap up the Blue's Clues party, here are the treats that I made with help!

First off, I purchased # 3 molds and lollipop sticks from Etsy.

I LOVE Etsy! I got a lot of stuff for the party from there!

And then as you can see, I made the #3 chocolate lollipops!

My oldest daughter helped with making these.

Before I got in the "rhythm" of making the chocolate lollipops
in bulk, I melted chocolate while the molds were still freezing
a previous lollipop batch. I panicked, so I got out some
pretzel rods to use up the melted chocolate! Turned out to
be a good panic. The party guests dug the dipped pretzels!

For the next edible craft, I dug out my BRAND NEW Cricut
Cake machine and made paw prints out of gum paste.
Previously my oldest daughter had the Cricut Cake Mini,
but at some point I was able to snag the large model
for $50 brand new. I did some research thanks to Pinterest and
got a lot of great tips on using the Cricut Cake for this project
and it worked very well. No problems!

My daughter and her friend attached the little paw prints to our

white-chocolate covered Oreos! I used circles from one of my
Cricut cartridges (Art Philosophy, I think?) because the actual
Blue's Clues paw prints from the show are more circular. The
circles were all laid out on my Gypsy, which worked out great.

They're a little imperfect, but still looked good & tasted yummy!

The night before the birthday party, I had the
guests of honor overnight so I put them to work, too!
They made Blue's Clues sugar cookies!

Ok, so they ate the cookies that they decorated
which left me with decorating the rest, but it was
so much fun making the cookies with the boys!

with a "thank you for coming" tag!

 

I can't take credit for the cakes, but thought I'd show

them in this post. My cousin made them using a
Blue's Clues pan. They turned out AWESOME!

And here is the table at the party with the packaged

goodies on it!I got the blue pail & bucket at the dollar store

and personalized them with vinyl. I used Zoo Day for

the boys' names and "is," and then Birthday Bash for the

# 3. I wanted the 3 to be a bit more perfect so it was more

easily identified by the birthday boys. I figured that their

mom can use these buckets to hold small toys or

miscellaneous stuff in their rooms after the party.

 

 

So that's it for crafting and this party. I had so much fun with this theme! I wasn't crazy about the theme when I first heard about it, though. I thought for sure it would be Thomas the Train since the boys love that! And since Blue's Clues the show was canceled back in 2006, it was harder to get things. But, once I started doing some research (thank you Pinterest and Etsy!!), I got REALLY into Blue's Clues. I tend to do that, though, with the parties I craft for. My room seems so bare now without all of the blue -LOL!

Blue's Clues Birthday Party - The Banners!

My twin cousins' big Blue's Clues Birthday bash was this past weekend, and of course I had to be a part of it in a crafty way! One, well actually two of the things I made were banners! Their mom hung last year's Dinosaur Train banners above the boys' beds after the party, so how could I not make make new ones for this year?!

cartridge, and I found the Blue's Clues graphic
online, which I used throughout the party.

I kept flipping the colors to make the

banners look a little different for each boy.

Basketball STATE Tournament Crafty Projects!

What a basketball season! Us 8th grade moms thought for sure it was going to be a "learning year" this season due to so many phenomenal players graduating last year. Our team was really young, but believe it or not, we got into the State Tournament earlier this month! That means out of 245 Lutheran grade schools in our state, our school was one of the 16 to be there!! It was quite the accomplishment.

Since it was such a big deal, I had to arm the families with Superfan kits at State! These included basketball-shaped paddles, felt flower mom pins, clapper noise-makers with players' #s, inflatable fingers, pom-poms, and tattoos (the last 3 ordered through Oriental Trading)!

We were definitely SUPERFANS!!

Tournament Pretzels & Hair Ties!

To keep with tradition at our basketball tournament, I covered pretzel rods with white, light and dark chocolate and decorated them with blue sprinkles in our school color- blue! I also printed the tournament logo out in cardstock and cut tags for each pretzel package.

And for a fun display, I used my Cricut and some outdoor vinyl to decorate dollar store buckets. One bucket was for the team with their coaches (+lollipops for a gluten-free teammate). The other bucket was sold at the concession stand. The pretzels were a big hit and were almost sold out the the first night of the tournament!

While I was working on the pretzels, my daughter assembled hair ties with ribbons for her and her teammates! They looked fabulous on the girls!

Making things for the tournament was fun, but having our team take the 1st place trophy was the best part of it all- GO EAGLES!!

Basketball Tournament Decorations

This weekend was my daughter's basketball tournament at her school! The parents provide the decorations, so my Cricut and I helped out by making a banner, basketballs, and locker decorations!

40 ROCKS!!

Is anyone out there? I know- I've been gone for months! I have been crafting still though, and also got a smart phone finally! So this is my 1st mobile post. Maybe just maybe I can post more often now this way given that I take pics right on my phone of my projects.

So my BFF turned 40 last Saturday so I made her a card, a card that rocks! I used the new technology, Talking Tags! You use that app on your Smart phone to scan the bar code (labels sold online), record a message, then affix the bar code to your crafty project. When the recipient receives it, he or she downloads the Talking Tags app, scans the bar code, and gets to hear your message! So cool! And since my BFF lives many states away, this was a good alternative to being there in person. I also played the Beatles' "You Say It's Your Birthday" from YouTube so that the song could be a part of the 1-minute message. FUN!

Dinosaur Train 2nd Birthday Party!

A few weeks back I went to my twin cousins' 2nd birthday party! I offered to help out with the decorations, which led me to get to know the boys' favorite TV show on PBS, Dinosaur Train! It really is an adorable show. And even though I initially suggested Elmo as the theme, I'm glad I was able to branch out into some other characters and personalize the party for my cousins.

Here's what I made:

Personalized party hats for the birthday boys!

I actually altered 2 party hats that were

in my party supply stash. They were a bit

girly before, but now they are fit for boys!

I got the Dinosaur Train graphics

online and printed them out.

The #2s were made with the Cricut Elmo's Party

cartridge and were glittered up with Stickles!

More Stickles on the names (also in Elmo font) . . .

And the letters were placed on foam tape for dimension.

And these were the banners I made!

Again, I used the Elmo font for the lettering,

but I ran the top layer through the Cuttlebug with the

Tiny Mosaic CB embossing folder for a dinosaur skin look!

The ribbons were all different between each of

the letters, but stayed with the color theme.

And again, I printed Dinosaur Train

graphics from the internet.

For added fun, I adhered a photo

of each boy to a letter of their banner.

I had some more photo fun when making

these small little kid favors. I edited the twins

into a Dinosaur Train graphic! Everyone got

a kick out of these tags. They were attached

to a bottle of bubbles purchased at our local

dollar store 3 for $1. Simple and cheap!

Just some good ole' curling ribbon to attach the tags!

As part of my gift to the boys, I found these awesome

personalized T-shirt transfers from a store on Etsy!

The store is called customtshirtdesigns, but for some

reason I can't find any items for sale right now for them.

Maybe they're not making them anymore? Gasp!

But aren't the boys so cute in them?

They say, "Look who's 2" and then their

names are on the bottom of the 2. So perfect!

And of course I had to make matching cards!

I went with the design of the tshirt transfer, but with

the color and embossing from the banners.

The letters for the cards were cut using

the Cricut Birthday Bash cartridge. That is

definitely a favorite Cricut font of mine.

I use it A LOT.

I would have preferred to weld the card together

instead of adhering the tops of the numbers together,

but my Gypsy had to be replaced by Provo Craft (grrr)

and I hadn't used the Cricut Craft Room yet.

Some day I will dabble in it.

And yes, the sentiment stamp on the inside

is a Scrappy Moms stamp! It's from the

Simple Sentiments set. Love my SMS!

Don't the twins look adorable in the hats?

Ok, it took some major work to get this photo since they

didn't enjoy wearing the hats, but it was worth it!
