Chocolate Covered Strawberry BFF Birthday Card

So I was perusing my blog roll this morning and saw several posts about Birthday Sundaes returning from vacation with a challenge-YAY! The challenge is to make a birthday card, add birthday wording to the front, and preferably use a new supply on it. My BFF has a birthday this week, so off I went in creating a card today for this challenge!

I bought my Imagine machine back in August, went through a  lot to get it shipped back to PC for "medical attention," then finally got it back in Mid October. Since then, I have been pretty busy, but in all honesty I was feeling incompetent in using my Imagine. My first project wasn't until last month when I made teacher luncheon favors (see post HERE). I had some printing trouble where the pattern had stripes going through it, but it was faint and barely noticeable on the little favors.

So here I am with my 2nd project. I'd say the Imagine counts as a new supply since I've barely used it, right? And I've never used the Yummy cartridge until this card. Unfortunately, I'm still having the same printing quality issues as my first project, but this time much worse. In my card below, you will see Cinnamon Stickles covering the bold stripes that were printed where solid chocolate brown should have been (It's not a mistake! It's a chance to embellish, right?). The colors are off from what I saw on the screen, too. If anyone has insight on this problem, I would be so grateful for a comment or an email! I just put a message on the Cricut MB, too.

Anyway, on with the card:

Supplies:
  • Cricut Imagine Yummy cartridge for patterned paper
  • Cricut Paisley cartridge for strawberry
  • Cricut Imagine pre-loaded cut for shape behind strawberry
  • Colorbok white textured 12x12 cardstock purchased at Walmart
  • Brown Recollections cardstock from Michael's
  • "Sweet Birthday Wishes" sentiment stamp from Scrappy Moms' Sweet Somethings stamp set
  • "Happy Birthday to you!' sentiment from Scrappy Moms' Hooray or Birthdays stamp set
  • Stampin' Up Crystal Effects for chocolate piece on strawberry
  • Cinnamon Stickles to cover up Imagine printing error
  • Eucalyptus Stickles and Fruit Punch Stickles for strawberry
  • Blossom baker's twine purchased from Scrappy Moms
Well, there you have it. Again, please pass along any advice if you have it on correcting my Imagine printing problem. I would greatly appreciate it! In the meantime, I'm entering this embellished bday card for my BFF into Birthday Sundaes' challenge # 38! Thanks for looking! Have a great week!

You're a Beautiful SOL

Don't fall over, but I'm actually joining a challenge!! I've been lurking for a long time viewing everyone's challenges and longing to join in, but I never commit. Well, this is the week!!! I'm going to attempt to link up to the Terrific Tuesdays Challenge with Scrappy Moms!

I've wanted to crack open the Scrappy Moms' Sweet Somethings Stamp set ever since I got it last month. So, I took the cartridge of choice for the challenge, Paisley, and feverishly hunted for a sentiment and image that would go together. Now I know a shoe would have been a really good choice for my sentiment of choice, "You're a beautiful Sole," but that was too expected. I still may do a Converse shoe at some point since my girls love wearing them, but I saw the Spanish word, Sol in this stamp so I went with it. I think it may be due to all of the RAIN we've had lately which is making me just BEG for some sun, but who knows?!

Supplies:
  • Yellow-orange flower shape cut from p69 of Cricut Paisley cartridge using the Button creative Feature and welded together to make card base on my Gypsy (thought this looked like a sun, but my older daughter said it was resembling a flower too much so I cut the petals into rays a bit)
  • Yellow center cut from p24 of Cricut Paisley cartridge using the Button creative feature shifted
  • D'Vine Swirls Cuttlebug folder for front of card
  • "You're a beautiful Sole" Scrappy Moms Sweet Somethings stamp set (without 'e' on Sole) stamped with black Versa Color ink and heat embossed using Ranger clear embossing powder and my Marvy Uchida heat embossing gun
  • Lemon Drop Scrappy Moms bakers twine
  • Yellow Stickles (brushed on center with a paint brush)
This card just makes me want to break into song - Jesse McCartney's song, "Beautiful Soul" that is!

"I don't want another pretty face
I don't want just anyone to hold
I don't want my love to go to waste
I want you and your beautiful soul"
Oh, yeah!!

Well, I'm off to link up! Wish me luck! And happy hump day, my fellow crafters! The weekend is not too far off now!

Birthdays, Birthdays and More Birthdays!

I know I said I had a lot to post coming up and it's already 1/2 way through the week, so I thought I'd better stop hanging out on all of your blogs and get posting - LOL!

Spring is full of birthdays for me to celebrate, and that includes a usual combined birthday party for my Godkids. Well, 2 out of the 3 kids are my godchildren, but I pray for and give a gift to the one that isn't my godchild just the same!

There are so many fabulous kid cuts out there to make fun birthday cards. How's a gal to choose? Well, I usually let my wrapping paper do the deciding for me. Here are the 3 cards with their wrapped gifts that I gave this past weekend:

Dragonfly made firefly from Cricut Paisley cartridge
to match firefly wrapping paper, 10 from Lyrical letters

Snail and 7 from the Cricut Birthday Bash cartridge
to match snail wrapping paper

Butterfly from Create a Critter Cartridge,
3 from Once Upon A Princess

The Play-Doh tub was hard to wrap, so I thought solid tissue paper was the best option for it. I still wanted to use an insect of sorts to keep with my creature theme, though, hence the pretty butterfly.

All 3 cards had card bases cut from the Cricut Birthday Bash cartridge, were embossed with Cuttlebug folders, were blinged up with Stickles, and included the child's age that they were turning.

I must say I just squeaked by getting these done for Saturday, but even in my rush I really enjoyed creating. I have lots more to do with Easter and my younger daughter's birthday coming up so I best get busy!

Have a good downslope of the week!

Have a SCENT-SATIONAL Day!

Ahhh, the smell of Spring. I LOVE IT!! The weather is amazing today! It truly is a SCENT-sational day - perfect for me to come out of hiding and post something new on this here Happy Place blog of mine!

I was so excited last Thursday to open my mail and receive the Scrappy Moms stamp set I won on Scrappy Mel's blog called Furry Friends! It is SOOO cute!!! They are good quality stamps, too. Here is my first card using the set:

I cut the perfume bottle out of dark pink cardstock using the Cricut Paisley cartridge, embossed it with the D'vine Swirls Cuttlebug folder, and blinged the "cap" with Golden Rod Stickles. Then after stamping "Have a Scent-sational day," I broke out my chalk that I haven't used in literally years and tried to make it look like a pink perfume aroma coming out with the sentiment. I'm not sure about the look of the "aroma," but it was a good thought for someone who has been creatively lacking lately. I also used the pretty ribbon that was tied around my Scrappy Mom's Furry Friends Stamp Set when it arrived. I love that Scrappy Moms added that extra touch, and then I was able to be "green" with this very pink ribbon by re-using it on this card! :)

Thanks again, Mel, for this awesome stamp set! I'm already enjoying it if you couldn't tell!! You and Tammy make fabulous stamps!!!!!

Happy almost Spring fellow crafters!
